Whether or not you’re a fan of the execution, you’ve gotta admire that Mini’s designers keep cranking out different design permutations based on the same platform, like their soon-to-be-unveiled Beachcomber, above (slated for public viewing at next year’s Detroit Motor Show). The big-wheeled, off-road Mini features an open-air design with little design touches like a steering-wheel-mounted compass, “strongly contoured” seats to keep you from bouncing out of the car, and lightweight door and roof units you can pop on if it starts raining.
