Portland we go hard, Portland we go hard.

First of all, welcome to Et cetera, a subdivision of darickdang.com. I’ve had two different blogs before but this time, I purposely spent so much time designing and coding this blog that I’d become attached to it and won’t ever leave it. I had blogspot before but man, talk about crappy options (If you don’t care about what I just said, just skip on to the next paragraph because the next few sentences are talking about blog sites). Then I tried an xml-driven blog and that didn’t give me the flexibility this one does. You probably found this site via darickdang.com so I’m gonna say a few words behind why I designed darickdang.com the way I did. I originally was going to design my site through indexhibit but after getting my template set (ready to launch might I add) I wanted it to look different so I went back to a Flash-based website.

Yes, that is an actual video of me driving through downtown Portland one night. I taped (with packaging tape) a flip video recorder I borrowed from my friend to my dashboard and recorded. I like that component of the site because I can always switch the videos up depending on the season. I could have a video of me building a snowman during the winter and me flying a kite in the spring. Don’t expect those things to happen. And about the music. Auto-music usually sucks… unless you got good music. So check out the Menahan Street Band (A tip from LookLefty) and be sure to pick up their CD.

So this blog. It’s about 4 things: design, music, sports and news… kind of. Broad categories I know but these things are what I eat and breathe everyday. I keep my comments to a minimum (as much as I can) and since I can update via an app on my phone, I will update on the go. I know a lot of people say not to redirect your site but hell, until the day mobile phones become Flash-enabled, that’s when I’ll not redirect.

I was living the retired student life for the last 3 months and taking it easy after the grueling gauntlet of school. But now I’m back and better than ever.

Menahan Street Band. Go buy the album. Wale. Support him when his debut album drops in September. While you’re there, pick up the debut Mayer Hawthorne album. Support good music. And three words: Verbal Source Productions. Buy a turntable and bring back vinyl. Recycle. Floss everyday.

Big ups to everyone who made my sites possible. Everytime I re-launch I’m always reminded of how much work it takes to put things together. Much love to God, all my family, friends and all the music in my iTunes library for keeping me going and alive this far. I truly appreciate it.

I got big dreams. I like whiskey straight. I like fishing. I design all day. My life revolves around music. And Portland is the best city… ever.
